Rick Anderson
Managing Director

Mr. Anderson was formerly Company Group Chairman, Johnson & Johnson, and Worldwide Franchise Chairman, Cordis Corporation. Mr. Anderson also served as President of Cordis Corporation and was previously Worldwide Franchise Vice President of Centocor, Inc., which merged with Johnson & Johnson in 1999. Mr. Anderson was a key architect behind the launch of the world’s first drug-eluting stent, the CYPHER® Sirolimus-eluting Coronary Stent. This breakthrough innovation for the treatment of restenosis (reblockage) has been used to treat more than three million patients worldwide. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Anderson served in senior leadership positions with other international healthcare and medical device companies. At Racal HealthCare, Inc., he was Vice President, Global Marketing and prior to that, he spent a decade with Boehringer Mannheim Pharmaceuticals and Allergan Pharmaceuticals in various U.S. and global sales, sales management, and marketing management roles.

Mr. Anderson holds a B.B.A. in Marketing from Mississippi State University. He served five years in the United States Army where he obtained the rank of captain. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Economic Advisory Board of Mississippi State University, a consultant member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and has worked within the industry to shape global education of interventional specialties. He also participates in the AdvaMed Venture Capital Advisory Council, the Dartmouth Device Development (D3) Symposium Executive Committee and serves as a member of the Accelerated Innovation Program Working Group for the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).  Mr. Anderson is currently on the board Cameron Health, Intersect ENT and Tryton Medical, and acts as Chairman of the Board for Cardiva Medical, IDEV Technologies.



Matthew S. Crawford
Founding Managing Director

Prior to founding PTV Sciences, Mr. Crawford was a Partner at Academy Funds, a venture capital firm based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. While at Academy, Mr. Crawford participated in the creation and financing of many healthcare companies. Mr. Crawford graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.A. and M.B.A., where he conducted research on venture capital and capital markets activities. Upon graduation, he joined First Union Capital Markets Corporation and rose to Vice President during his six years at the firm. While at First Union, Mr. Crawford worked with all aspects of financing small, mid-size, and large companies.

Mr. Crawford is co-founder of The Sportsman’s Club, whose mission is to provide fundraising support to The Rise School of Austin along with being a past board member of The Rise School.  He is also a member of the University of Texas System's Horizon Fund External Advisory Committee and the Executive Committee for The University of Texas Chancellor’s Council.  Additionally, Mr. Crawford participates on the Business Advisory Board for the Institute for the Study of Aging, located in New York City, as well as the Alumni Council Board at Wake Forest University. Mr. Crawford currently sits on the boards of Apollo Endosurgery, Cardiva Medical, Clarity Medical, IDEV Technologies, LDR Spine, and On-X Life Technologies.
